Court confirmed that the US-based smartphone maker had not infringed patents of Samsung
Tokyo District Court in Japan has rejected South Korea based Samsung's plea to ban Apple's iPhone sales in Japan.
According to Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese newspaper, the court has ruled against Samsung two requests made on 14 September and 11 October, further confirming that the US-based smartphone maker had not infringed patents of Samsung.
Samsung claimed that Apple had infringed its technology for downloading an app to add new functions to a smartphone and the airplane mode, which concludes a device's communications with no requirement of turning off the power during flight.
According to court, Samsung's patent infringement claim was unacceptable as the airplane mode feature was not a new innovation, but an extension of earlier innovations.
Earlier in August, Samsung had won a case against Apple that saw the court deciding the Samsung's Galaxy devices were not infringing on the several patents that Apple was suing over.
Apple had also won a case against Samsung following the court's order to pay $1.05bn in damages to Apple.
