Baguio eyes sisterhood with a town or city in South Africa

BAGUIO CITY, Nov. 15 ? Baguio is eyeing to establish a sisterhood tie with a town or city in South Africa.

This was revealed by City Mayor Mauricio Domogan in an interview after the courtesy call of South Africa Deputy Minister for Mineral Resources Godfrey Oliphant.

Oliphant serves as the keynote speaker in the ongoing 59th annual convention of the Philippines Mining Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) held here.

"We are happy to have more sister cities in the world in order that we can live up to Baguio's role as destination of international tourism," said Domogan.

He said that in his recent visits to South Korea, Japan, China and Canada, the officials and residents of the Baguio's sister cities in those countries have expressed to further their educational, tourism and cultural exchanges for the bilateral benefits of their cities. (PNA)
