Factory Sub Connectors Question - DIYMA Car Audio Forum

Hello!

I need some advice regarding the factory connectors that are connected to my 8" sub. Ill probably be on this forum a bunch because over time I plan to make a lot of improvements to my current stereo. For now, the largest apparent bang for the buck improvement I can make sounds like it will be the sub.

Thus far, the only experience I've had with speakers and speaker wire were in the house when you put the stripped end of the speaker wire into the hole that bites onto it. So when I popped out the sub just to get a look at it, I wasnt sure what to make of these connections.

So, because Im not familiar with these connections, I seek the wisdom of the car audio sages. Are these standard car speaker connectors, and will fit an aftermarket sub (Polk Audio MM840 perhaps), or will I require an adapter?

I also ask because I'm in Grande Cache, Alberta and its pretty cold out this time of year, so the less time I spend hanging out the back of my jeep fartin' around the better.

One more question: The current sub is a DVC @ 2ohm per coil. Will I be able to replace it with a SVC @ 4ohm? Thank you!
