Demand for Health Care Managers | Broadview University Blog

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities for health care managers is expected to grow by 22 percent from 2010 to 2020,? which is faster than the average for all occupations. The healthcare industry as a whole will see an increase in the demand for medical services with the continued expansion of health care services. As the baby-boom generation continues to age managers will be needed in a variety of medical settings, including:Managers

  • Clinics
  • Senior care centers
  • Hospitals
  • Healthcare associations
  • Public health departments
  • Mental health organizations
  • Rehabilitation centers
  • Research institutions

Regardless of the health care setting, health care managers will play a vital role in balancing the clinical side of the operation with the business skills necessary to succeed.? Ever valuable are the tools necessary to effectively communicate, coach employees, problem solve, conjoin with other disciplines, and keep cost down.? Education and training in the disciplines necessary to cultivate these skills can be acquired by a variety of avenues with on the job training and traditional education playing a role.? As a changing health care environment becomes the norm, there will be a greater need for those skills honed in the classroom and adaptable to change.?

With the implementation of teamwork as a design for many healthcare organizations, the role of the middle manager in implementing these initiatives becomes critical.? Their potential to influence and improve these and other initiatives should not be overlooked.? Managerial effectiveness should be the desired outcome of a qualified middle manager.
