I diddnt have time to eat because I had to wait for the owner to stop talking while she had the entire staff in a meeting.. The staff noticed.. She diddnt. Don?t waste your time or money. Brett L. 6/25/12 Aspen

Well it was pretty bad. Ordered the jerk wings. They wasnt anything jerk flavored about them but they were very tasty. However the menu didnt say it was only 4 but it did say $12. Are you kidding?? its wings! Entrees seemed reasonable for $21 each but they were tiny! 6-7 bites and it over. Flat iron steak was about 5oz! The roast chicken came out soggy and still raw in the thigh and leg. Prices seem reasonable but the portions are tiny so you might as well pay $40 for a entree anywhere else. besides the menu is nothing like their original proposel and its pretty limited on selections. ?Decor is ok, seemed a bit dingy. everything that was is lost but that may not be such a bad thing. The Server was good and the olden days theme is catchy for aspen. 2/2/12 Local J.

Food is always good, but so sick of having mediocre service that I?m not going back anymore. Took 15 minutes to clear 2 empty plates of Oysters. Waiter did not come to take our dinner order until drinks were empty & appetizers had been finished for 10 minutes. If I were paying $800/night to stay at the Nell, I would be appalled by the service. 2/22/12 Disappointed Again

Amazing. Could not be ant kid friendlier and the food is great too. 3/8/12 Young Aspen Mom

Rude rude rude!!!!! Had a reservation and was on time with a group of 8 and ?with a half full restaurant we told we would have to wait, looked at table it was set and ready! Front of house poor. Next a women walked up to table and said ?so what do you want? we all thought she was a friend of someone at table?.she was the wine girl? Wow could it get worse ? Yes ?. The staff is arrogant, rude and this owner is clueless!!! Oh by the way mushroom soup with truffle oil, clearly chef has not tasted oil coats inside of mouth. Nasty! ?3/16/12 Local, Aspen

I had the quinoa salad with chicken added. ?The ingredients were wonderful and blended together beautifully. ?The portion was not huge, but ok for a small female. ?Priced at $16.50 it?s not priced for locals, but I will splurge every once and a while! Stacy ?Basalt 4/21/12

We had dinner there last night and it was disgusting. ?We were extremely embarrassed as we had guests with us. Our white wine was warm! ?Even the second bottle they replaced it with wasn?t cold enough. ?We switched to red. ?The food is greasy and not at all authentic Italian. ?Don?t waste your money, go someplace else. Rachael E. NY 7/13/12

I would have loved to tasted the menu. They answered saying it will be over an hour wait for delivery. My friend had ordered here and had to wait an hour and a half. um so i took an hour wait to mean two hours. who knows what this place is about. they man who answers the phone is nice, but then you only wait for your food. order at 5 if you want it by 8 by Niko Aspen

Horrible food, cold, mediocre, terrible delivery ? one hour late,,rude managers. Dishonest and distasteful. by Harley 2/17/12

great new addition for Snowmass restaurants. . Both the restaurant and the food are family friendly and a great locals spot to grab drink or have a nice meal after skiing. Service was excellent, ?food was great and prices are very fair. Give it a try! ?by kskaar 12/17/11

Food took two hours which can sometimes be understandable. Owner, however, was rude and aggressive and threatened patrons. 2/18/12

THE BEST tuna sammy I have ever had, period! Not to mention the muffins, so moist and many different flavors to choose from. Shannon 12/2/11

not impressed. took forever for delivery. cold. overpriced. never again. by Sue 2/22/12

Owner is the rudest man I have ever dealt with. ?We waited over 2 hours for our food ? missed the rest of our ski day because of the slow food time. ?How long does it take to make a burger? And how hard is it to treat your customers with respect? by Cris 2/18/12

We went to ? over the winter holidays in 2011. We found it very pretentious. We spent about 180 dollars for two adults and three children for a few ?larger portion? appetizers, dishes with incredibly tiny portions of mediocre food, and left starving. Fortunately, we decided to get up and quit in time, going back to our apartment to heat up TV dinners. by Daniel J. 12/26/11

Managment is insensitive to customers with disabilities. If you have a disability you will not be treated with respect and dignity. We will never go back there again. ?If you patronize this resturant you are supporting discrimination. Suzanne G. 12/31/11

Excellent restaurant with a great bar menu. ? and their staff are wonderful people. A local?s favorite, great atmosphere. by Danny H. 12/6/11

We had a fantastic dining experience. ? ?and their staff took excellent care of us. Recommed the elk loin.by Danny H. 12/13/11

I always go to the ? as they have the best coffee and friendliest baristas in the city so I was hoping the same was true in Aspen. Just finished a perfectly made espresso and great egg and ham sandwich.
The girl behind the counter was cool and filled me in on their roasting in the valley.
Must stop on visit to Aspen. by Andrew 12/7/11

? is the best sandwhich place in Town. It has the best value and the best tasting food. hands down! the service is awesome and they remember my name everytime i go there. I definitely recommend this Deli to everyone! ive never had a bad experience there. by Manny 9/10/11

Good food , good service and the best price in aspen.I go there very year, they alway keep the same standard. by Cooper 2/7/12

I had a lunch here on my way to my hotel for X Games. I was able to have lunch with a beer for ten dollars. The staff had tons of great ideas for things to do during my brief visit. I also wound up sitting right next to one of the mono skiers who said that this was a must stop for him when he comes through?.
Hopefully I will be back soon. ?Jordan 1/25/12

The food here was great and it had a fun atmosphere. The service was great and the location in great at the bottom of ?.

At first this restaurant showed potential, they did great bringing our daughter a balloon and cup of water, then it stopped. ?We sat at our table for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to take our drink order. ?A table that came in after us had their order taking while we were still waiting for someone to help us. ?The owner was talking with another table about the lighting but never came to see if we were helped. ?A very AWFUL experience! ?Don?t go here if you want good service! by Michele 7/23/11

Very pleased, best burger in town, friendly service, reasonable prices, excellent view from the patio to enjoy Aspen Mountain as well live music at dawn from across the street. by Walt M. 8/06/11

I ended up hating this restaurant. The service was poor, bad attitudes, terrible food, the most uncomfortable chairs. etc etc etc by Mimi 8/05/11

Excited to try something new and sat down outside at ??????!. Waited awhile to get served although the owner told us to grab the table and then stood at the front of the entrance. The poor server was running around trying to keep up as fast as he could with no help from anyone else in the restaurant. It was only until the owner sat a family down and then proceeded to wait on them ? they got their drinks and food well before we did and then we hear him complaining about the cobblestone and how the city wouldn?t let him put down real floors. He should be lucky he gets the outside space. Thought it was very tacky to complain to your guests. Seemed odd that one table deserves all the attention at your restaurant ? maybe him helping bus some tables or helping the server out would have been nice. Food was ok and the atmosphere is nice. We tried it but won?t be back. by Eric 8/15/11

I have never experienced such horrible service in my life. I was born in Aspen and ??????! is an embarrassment to our city and reputation. It took a half an hour to get a Caesar Salad with pre-cooked chicken that could have been sold at a gas station. Not only that, but the waitress was very callous and had a hard time acknowledging my presence, this is unacceptable. by Sara 8/01/11

Hands down, the best Mexican food in the Roaring Fork Valley. ?A little pricey but worth every cent. Even though it is a specialty dining genre, ?????? is a down home, down valley family staple by Kelly 8/7/11

My friend and I decided to eat here because it smelled absolutely delicious. Well, the soup and salad was really good. We couldn?t quite understand the menu, and our waiter spoke to quickly for us to understand. The food was all excellent. The service could have been much better. The waiter would go to the table next to ours and ask them how everything was and get them anything they needed every five minutes, and it seemed like our money didnt matter to him. The food was a bit over priced for the small portions we were given. Probably will never go back again.?Unknown 10/9/11

The food that I ordered Crispy Duck and mahi mahi was great. The cocktail was perfect. The service was friendly. My server the one with pony tail was very friendly. We love him. We love your food. We will be back. Maxi 10/21/11

What did Romney get out of his foreign tour?

Romney in Israel (Uriel Sinai/Getty Images)

WARSAW, Poland? As Mitt Romney stood on stage here delivering the final speech of his weeklong overseas tour, television correspondents were positioned just yards away, pre-taping hits for Tuesday's morning news shows back in the United States?and the stories were not just about the substance of Romney's remarks.

A little over an hour before, several reporters traveling with Romney were rebuked by Rick Gorka, the candidate's traveling press secretary, as they shouted questions at the candidate at a public plaza near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

"Gov. Romney, are you concerned about some of the mishaps on your trip?" CNN's Jim Acosta shouted.

"Gov. Romney, do you have a statement for the Palestinians?" the New York Times' Ashley Parker yelled.

"What about your gaffes?" The Washington Post's Phil Rucker added.

While the candidate ignored the questions, Gorka rushed over to the reporters, who were standing about 20 yards away from Romney's motorcade as it sat parked just off a busy public street.

"Show some respect," Gorka snapped.

When a reporter complained the press corps traveling with Romney hadn't had a chance to ask a question of the candidate in days, Gorka, a brusque but usually affable presence on the trail who is known for quoting "Seinfeld," became visibly irritated.

"Kiss my ass," he replied. "This is a holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect."

Gorka later apologized?but by then, he was already famous to millions of TV viewers, who had listened to a clip of the tense exchange replayed on virtually all of the major news networks on Tuesday morning.

The run-in was quickly declared to be another distraction for the Romney campaign, which has struggled to stay on message during the candidate's international tour. But the episode pointed to a larger question about Romney's visits to the United Kingdom, Israel and Poland: What exactly was the message?

Before Romney began his foreign jaunt, his aides cast the trip as a chance for him?to prove to voters he was a capable of handling foreign affairs?largely considered one of the weaker elements of his political resume.

But Romney and his campaign were on defense literally from the moment he arrived in London, the first stop of his tour. His comments to NBC News suggesting that London's preparations for the Olympics were "disconcerting" caused a firestorm within the British media?and prompted more bad headlines back home.

Romney went before reporters to clarify his remarks?the only time he took questions from the full traveling press corps during his entire trip. But his campaign offered no pushback to the drama?even though, as the Washington Post's Erik Wemple noted, Romney was merely repeating what the British media had been agonizing over for weeks.

In Israel, Romney seemed to have a smoother start, but courted controversy again when he seemed to suggest at a fundraiser in Jerusalem that Israel was doing better than Palestine economically because of its "culture." Andrea Saul, a spokeswoman for the campaign, told reporters traveling with Romney that the candidate's comments had been "grossly mischaracterized"?but the campaign offered no explanation for what Romney actually meant.

The most extensive pushback didn't come until Tuesday, when Romney himself ?told Fox News he wasn't specifically referring to Palestinian culture in his remarks at the fundraiser?a clarification that doesn't seem to change the general meaning of his comments but still marks the most significant level of defense the campaign offered after his statement.

Romney could have offered the clarification Monday?and a longer explanation of what he meant. But campaign aides offered reporters traveling with the campaign no access to the candidate Monday.

With the exception of his brief London press conference, Romney kept his distance from reporters throughout his entire trip. While he has been known to come back and mingle with reporters on long flights, he rarely left his seat during a five-hour flight from London to Tel Aviv on Saturday and did not come back during a four-hour flight from Israel to Gdansk, Poland, on Monday.

His only interaction with reporters was a series of sit-down interviews with TV correspondents?and a wave he delivered in response to a wave from a reporter who tried to get his attention as he prepared to exit his plane in Warsaw on Monday night.

As Romney shook hands after his final speech in Warsaw on Tuesday, Stuart Stevens, one of the candidate's top political strategists, was asked by reporters to explain what Romney had accomplished with his overseas trip.

Stevens, who proclaimed Romney's trip to be a "great success," said the trip had given Romney a chance to get a better sense of "events on the ground." He said the tour had helped voters learn more about where Romney stands on specific issues?even though, he acknowledged, Romney's remarks overseas were largely constrained so as not to be perceived as being critical of President Barack Obama while overseas.

Stevens insisted the controversies that trailed the campaign?including the Olympics comment?would not affect voters' opinions of Romney.

"I don't think that will go down in history as very important," Stevens said. "I think that the public is very good at discerning what's important and what's not important. I don't think they give equal value to all things, and I think the people focus on what they find important and what is relevant to them in their lives."

Stevens argued Romney was already viewed as presidential material because of his background and accomplishments?and the trip, he said, had not undermined that with voters.

"He has a tendency to speak his mind and to say what he believes and whenever you do that, there will be those that disagree with you and there will be those that agree with you," Stevens said. "I think people like that. I think that this idea that you have to not speak your mind is something that's not very appealing to people."

Party turns costly as $15000 of jewelry stolen in Wellesley | Your ...

A Wellesley man returned home from vacation to two surprises. First, his teenaged son was throwing a party, which promptly broke up once dad came home. But soon, the man also discovered $15,000 worth of jewelry had been stolen from the family home.

Police received the call at 1:30 a.m. on July 24 after the father made the discovery at the Ferris Drive property.

?The homeowner came home from vacation and determined that his son had had a party that evening,? said Waterloo Police Service spokesperson Olaf Heinzel. ?The party had ended once dad arrived home.?

The valuable rings and bracelets were taken from a bedroom, said Heinzel, but it?s unclear exactly when they disappeared. The jewelry may have been taken during the party that night, or earlier while some of the family was on vacation.

There may have been eight or 10 people at the Monday night house party, according to the 18-year-old son?s testimony, Heinzel said.

Police want to talk with anyone who was at the house that night or neighbours who may have seen something.

?The key thing for us right now is to get a clear picture of who the individuals are who were there and interview them,? Heinzel said.

The police investigation is ongoing and anyone with information can call Waterloo Regional Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Apple rumor mill: Is the iPhone 5 coming in September?

Tim-Cook

Image Credit: David Paul Morris/Getty Images

There have been rumors about an impending release date for the iPhone 5 for so long now ? basically since Steve Jobs introdcued the iPhone 4 back in June 2010. Last year, everyone was sure that the iPhone 5 was thisclose to hitting stores?until Apple introduced the iPhone 4S instead. (In the tech business, this is referred to as ?Pulling a Not Without My Anus.?) So take this with a grain of salt: The enthusiast muckrakers over at iMore claim that Apple is plotting an event on September 12 where it will introduce a next-generation iPhone. That device will, per the rumors, go on sale on September 21.

Apple is famously secretive when it comes to their plans for future devices. (Unsurprisingly, the tech giant did not respond to EW?s request for a comment.) However, iMore has a decent track record with Apple announcements ? Jason Gilbert at HuffPo points out that they were the first to predict the February release of ?the New iPad.?

And if their report is even a little bit legit, September will be a fun month for Apple fans: iMore also claims that the September 12 event will see the release of the iPad Mini, a device which seems designed to launch a surprise attack on the Kindle Fire and the Nexus 7, sort of like when House Greyjoy launched a surprise attack on Winterfell while the Starks were fighting the Lannisters. The point is: Start bugging your parents about getting you an iPad mini, lest you become the only lame kid in class who still has a big ol? dumb normal iPad. Ugh, technology from last year is so gross!

T-Mobile Rumored to Launch Mobile Payment ... - Cell Phone Reviews

T-Mobile Rumored to Launch Mobile Payment Service on August 20 is a post by Chuong Nguyen from Gotta Be Mobile.

Google Wallet, which so far is only available on select unlocked smartphones and tablets as well as Android phones sold through U.S. carrier partner Sprint, is about to get some serious competition in the mobile payment arena. According to the latest leaks, ISIS, which is a consortium of carriers comprised of AT&T, T-Mobile USA, and Verizon Wireless, is about to launch its own version of a Google Wallet challenger come August 20th.

Mobile payments have gained traction in recent months in the U.S. as the technologies to enable this feature are maturing and have begun to appear on a number of smartphones. Near Field Communications, or NFC, technology allows smartphone users with these chips embedded to tap their phone on a payment terminal?similar to swiping a credit card at checkout at a physical retail store?to pay for goods and services. By using NFC and integrating payment into phones, the aim is to allow consumers to just carry their phones with them and not have to worry about carrying a wallet.

At this time, it?s still unclear if ISIS? other carrier partners?AT&T and Verizon Wireless?will also debut their mobile payment initiatives on the same August 20th date that T-Mobile is speculated to launch. According to?Tmo News, the T-Mobile initiative will only support a number of smartphones in a number of limited test markets at launch.

Phones supported include the HTC Amaze 4G, Samsung Galaxy S II, and Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G. Newer phones, such as the HTC One S and the Samsung Galaxy S III, are not mentioned on the list.

Unfortunately, only Austin, TX and Salt Lake City, UT are planned test markets at this time.

Self-immolations speak of Israel's bankruptcy

"...Israel's economy isn't experiencing delightful days. The mass protests in Tel Aviv and other cities relate the bitter story of Israel's failed economy. Perhaps it might be better for the Israeli leaders to deal with their people's problems and think of solutions to get out of the current crisis rather than pulling out all the stops to suppress a defenseless, besieged people in Gaza, kill the innocent Palestinian children and women and design malicious ploys to attack Syria and Iran."

In the past weeks, the streets of Tel Aviv have been witness to desperate people setting themselves on fire in protest at the growing social and economic inequalities and the rising cost of living in Israel.

Almost one year after 400,000 Israelis filled Tel Aviv?s Rothschild Boulevard in protest at the increasing economic difficulties, a wave of civil unrest and upsurges is again encompassing the state. The latest victim of the protests was the 57-year-old Moshe Silman, a disabled war veteran who sustained severe injuries after setting himself ablaze at a bus stop near Tel Aviv on July 14.

The death of Silman ignited widespread anger and frustration among the Israelis who have poured into the streets of Tel Aviv en masse since early July to call on the government to meet their socioeconomic demands in the light of the unprecedented recession and economic crisis in Europe.

New York Times wrote that many people have compared Silman to the Tunisian fruit vendor Mohamed Bouazizi whose committing suicide on January 4, 2011 became the preface to the Tunisian Revolution and the wider Arab Spring which totally transformed the political equations in the Middle East. However, the chained self-immolations in the past weeks in Israel are not exceptional. Although few may remember the tragic event, back in July 2004, an Israeli citizen named Mordehai Cohen set himself on fire in protest at the rejection of work license.

Moshe Silman was formerly a businessman, working in a messenger service; however, as the media reported, his business plummeted following the Second Intifada and his being unable to pay back the debt of the National Insurance Institute caused his homelessness. Irritated and hopeless, he set himself on fire, and a few days after the doctors said that 92 percent of his body had burnt, he passed away.

Before committing suicide, Silman wrote a letter, part of which reads, "I have no money for medicine or rent. I can?t make the money after I have paid my millions in taxes I did the army, and until age 46 I did reserve duty. I refuse to be homeless; this is why I am protesting."

The other case of self-immolation in Israel took place when the 40-year-old Akiva Mafa'i who was identified as a 25 percent Israel Defense Force (IDF) veteran fired himself in an excruciating manner. The Defense Ministry denied that his self-immolation had any connection with his status as a military veteran, but his brother thinks differently. He says that IDF behaves toward the war veterans apathetically and indifferently, paying no attention to the fact that they have sacrificed themselves to "contribute to the state."

Israel's economic woes and popular protests at the deteriorating social, political and economic situation of the regime is nothing new. Financial hardships and increasing gap between the rich and poor in Israel have ignited widespread protests since last year. It can be said that Israel's reliance on the United States and EU's ailing economy has dragged it into the current crisis. EU considers Israel a "privileged partner." EU is Israel's first trade partner and in 2011, the bilateral trade between the two sides amounted to approximately ? 29.4 billion.

But the economic indicators don't carry promising news for Israel. As of December 31, 2010, Israel's external debt revolved around USD 89 billion which roughly constituted 43% of Israel's total GDP.

According to New Israel Fund, 20 percent of the Israeli citizens and one in three children live below the poverty line.

On July 24, the Israeli media published a report that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has demanded an increase in the taxes and a considerable cut in the budget so as to prevent Israel's economy from sliding into a more debilitating crisis.

Israel is sinking in poverty and foreign debt while its hawkish leaders spend lavishly on military equipments and buying state-of-the-art weaponry from different countries.

According to Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPR), Israel is the 18th country of the world in terms of military expenditure. This is while it receives an annual USD 3.09 billion from the United States in military assistance. And just recently, it was reported that the U.S. President Barack Obama has signed into law a U.S. Congress bill that allows the government to gives Israel another USD 70 million in military assistance.

All in all, Israel's economy isn't experiencing delightful days. The mass protests in Tel Aviv and other cities relate the bitter story of Israel's failed economy. Perhaps it might be better for the Israeli leaders to deal with their people's problems and think of solutions to get out of the current crisis rather than pulling out all the stops to suppress a defenseless, besieged people in Gaza, kill the innocent Palestinian children and women and design malicious ploys to attack Syria and Iran.?

YC-Backed Newsblur Takes Feed Reading Back To Its Basics

logo_newsblurEvery few months or so, somebody will declare the death of RSS, and with it the death of old-school feed readers like Google Reader. Don't tell that to Samuel Clay, though, the founder of Newsblur, a web-based feed reader that's in Y Combinator's current batch of startups. Newsblur has many interesting features besides the pure feed reading experience, but at first glance, the web app feels like a throwback to the heady early days of feed readers a few years ago. In addition to the basic feed-reading experience, however, the service also lets you curate your favorite stories on Tumblr-like "Blur Blogs" which bring a strong social aspect to the service.

Chrysler books $436 million profit in second quarter

By Bernie Woodall, Reuters

??(Updated 2:45 p.m. Eastern) DETROIT --??Chrysler Group LLC continued its turnaround from near death just three years ago, earning $436 million in the second quarter and confirming that it will show a full-year operating profit of at least $3 billion.

Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne, in an email to Chrysler's employees on Monday, warned against overconfidence in the face of the company's recent success after "living through a near-death experience" in 2009.

"History teaches that it is easy to develop bad habits during good times," Marchionne wrote in the email, a copy of which was obtained by Reuters. "This is no time to cut corners, no time to become undisciplined in our execution, no time to forget how difficult it was to claw our way back to viability."

A year ago, Chrysler lost $370 million in the second quarter, including losses related to $551 million in payments of government loans related to its 2009 bankruptcy and bailout.

Second-quarter revenue rose 23 percent to $16.795 billion.

"Our results reflect a tireless pursuit by the people of Chrysler Group to deliver the very best quality and value across our brands," Marchionne, who is also chief executive of Fiat, said in a press statement.

Chrysler is majority-owned by Italy's Fiat SpA.

Fiat reports second-quarter earnings on Tuesday. In the past several quarters, its weak earnings have been boosted by the strength of Chrysler. Marchionne will elaborate on Chrysler's earnings during a Tuesday conference call with reporters and investors.

Fiat's earnings have been pressured by the economic crisis in Europe. Also, it relies heavily on southern European markets where sales have been hit the hardest.

Global vehicle sales rose 20 percent, to 582,000 in the second quarter, led by a 24 percent rise in U.S. sales. Sales outside its core market in North America rose 58 percent to 70,000 vehicles in the quarter.

Earlier this month, Fiat announced its intention to exercise its call option to purchase another 3.3 percentage points of Chrysler, raising its stake to 61.8 percent once that deal has been done. Neither Fiat nor Chrysler have yet indicated that the deal has been sealed.

The remaining shares of Chrysler are owned by a retirees' healthcare trust administered by the United Auto Workers union.

Earlier this month, Marchionne said of the full-year operating profit, "The objective of $3 billion is close at hand. We could overshoot it."

Sales have steadily climbed for Chrysler since the first quarter of 2010, when it began breaking out its financial results from Fiat. At that time, Chrysler's revenue was $9.69 billion.

Through June, Chrysler has reported 27 consecutive months of year-on-year sales growth in the U.S. market. That streak followed about 24 consecutive months of U.S. sales decreases.

Marchionne and his leadership team are credited with overhauling Chrysler's vehicle lineup which was outdated and panned in quality surveys and reviews when Fiat took management control in 2009.

Chrysler is now ramping up sales for its new Dodge Dart small sedan which competes in the compact segment of the U.S. auto market -- a crowded segment that includes the Honda Motor Co Civic, the Toyota Motor Corp Corolla, the Ford Motor Co Focus and the General Motors Co Chevrolet Cruze.

The Dart is the first vehicle to be jointly developed by Fiat and Chrysler.

Fiat took management control and a 20 percent ownership stake in Chrysler as part of the bankruptcy restructuring in 2009 that saved the Auburn Hills, Michigan, automaker from extinction.

Chrysler's cash at the end of the second quarter increased to $12.075 billion from $10.175 billion a year ago and from $11.3 billion at the end of the first quarter. Total available liquidity at the end of the second quarter was $13.4 billion.

Free cash flow was $866 million at the end of the second quarter, down from $1.7 billion at the end of the first quarter, and up from $174 million a year ago.??

Key role for Bill Clinton at Democratic convention

(AP) ? Former President Bill Clinton will have a marquee role in this summer's Democratic National Convention, where he will make a forceful case for President Barack Obama's re-election and his economic vision for the country, several Obama campaign and Democratic party officials said Sunday.

The move gives the Obama campaign an opportunity to take advantage of the former president's immense popularity and remind voters that a Democrat was in the White House the last time the American economy was thriving.

Obama personally asked Clinton to speak at the convention and place Obama's name in nomination, and Clinton enthusiastically accepted, officials said. Clinton speaks regularly to Obama and to campaign officials about strategy.

Clinton's prominent role at the convention will also allow Democrats to embrace party unity in a way that is impossible for Republican rival Mitt Romney.

George W. Bush, the last Republican to hold the White House, remains politically toxic in some circles. While Bush has endorsed Romney, he is not involved in his campaign and has said he does not plan to attend the GOP convention.

Clinton will speak in prime-time at the Democratic convention in Charlotte, N.C., on Sept. 5, the night before Obama formally accepts the party nomination. While the number two on the ticket often speaks that night, the Obama campaign has instead decided that Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will speak on the same night.

Biden will speak before Obama on Sept. 6, in front of tens of thousands of people expected to fill an outdoor stadium in Charlotte, and millions more on television.

The vice president's speech will focus on outlining many of the challenges the White House has faced over the past four years and the decisions Obama made to address them, officials said.

"To us it's about deploying our assets in the most effective way," Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod said. "To have President Clinton on Wednesday night laying out the choice facing voters, and then having Vice President Biden speak right before the president in prime time on Thursday, giving a testimony to the decisions the president has made, the character of his leadership and the battle to rebuild the middle class that's so central to our message."

Clinton's role at the convention was to be formally announced Monday. It was first reported by The New York Times.

Clinton spoke at the 2008 convention, part of a healing process for the Democratic party following the heated primary battle between Obama and the former president's wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Since then, the ties between Obama and Bill Clinton have strengthened significantly. Obama has called on the former president for advice several times during his term and the two have appeared together this year at campaign fundraisers for Obama's re-election bid.

Review: Letting Jack Watch, by Katheryn Wallis | Read React Review

Letting Jack Watch is a debut erotic novella, published in June by Ellora?s Cave. I know right? When?s the last time I read an erotic romance, never mind an EC? Sometimes I just have an urge to do something different, not read what everyone else is reading, and strike out on my own. This urge has led me to some of the most howlingly bad reads of my life. Luckily this one turned out to be ok.

Adults, read on:

Jack is a lonely Edmonton cop whose partner, Jeremy, is in a happy, committed relationship with a curvy, petite green-eyed redhead named Caitlin. Edmonton, you say? Why, yes. Who knew Ellora?s Cave has a series called Oh, Canada? Jack, Jeremy, Caitlin and their friends spend a lot of time hanging out together, attending Oilers games, going out for Boston Pizza, having pool parties, talking about curling, and drinking British cider.

With all of this friendly togetherness, it was perhaps inevitable that Jack, who has a bit of a crush on Caitlin, would stumble on Jeremy and Caitlin getting it on? and keep looking for longer than he should. Jack confesses to Jeremy, and Jeremy finds that not only doesn?t he mind, he?s kind of turned on. The second time, both Jeremy and Caitlin see Jack watching them. Things progress ? including a sexy interlude on the LRT (exhibitionism is a secondary theme here) ? until the three engage in an actual menage. Without being too explicit in this review, I?ll note that, anatomically speaking, the sex itself is quite vanilla. We aren?t in Lorelei James or Maya Banks menage territory.

This is a sexually explicit novella, so there isn?t much in the way of plot or conflict. There?s very little about the police force, and even less about Caitlin?s work as an in house technical writer for an alternative energy company (you didn?t see that one coming, did you?). The only character development is Jack moving from a one-night-stand kind of guy to being in a committed relationship with his best friend and best friend?s girlfriend. Everything?s sort of easy: ?Why don?t we try this?? ?I don?t want anyone to get hurt.? ?It?ll be fine.? ?Ok?. ?Boy that worked out great.? By the end, even their friends are cool with it, and our happy threesome is off to buy a house.

And as for character, well, there wasn?t much to any of the three. Caitlin is just too good to be true, a sport loving, sexy, nurturing, good listener, ?totally insatiable?, multiple orgasmer of a perfect girlfriend. And the men are so secure that they don?t even mind when Caitlin compares their penises (anyone want to guess what Solomonistic wisdom Caitlin imparted?). But I did appreciate the care that the author took avoid making Caitlin any type of victim. She was in on Jack?s voyeurism almost from the first, and was written as delighted with the way everything progressed.

As an erotic fantasy, Letting Jack Watch was fine. The sex scenes were well-written and progressed plausibly. There was a lot more setting, both physical and social, and realistic dialogue, than I was expecting. I thought it was at least as well-written as many contemporary category romances I have read. I mean, I actually learned a few things Edmonton, and while I realize ?it taught me things about a Western Canadian city? is not the normal praise for an erotic romance, I thought it was a bonus.

Edited to add: I forgot to mention that typically, from what I understand, threesomes are not part of polyamorous living. Another sense in which this is pure fantasy.

As a romance, it didn?t work so well for me: I need believable, well-rounded characters for that. But I liked a number of things about it, including, besides the ones I?ve mentioned, a story featuring cops where the work doesn?t get in the way of the relationship (one of my least favorite relationship obstacles ever is the cop who can?t commit because he?s a cop). Letting Jack Watch is a solid debut in its subgenre, and I?m going to go out on a limb and say that I think this author could go on to do some pretty interesting things.

Jets rookie WR Stephen Hill is drawing praise for doing a lot of what he likely will be doing this year:? blocking.

Pats WR Donte? Stallworth returns to New England having ?matured as a player, matured as a person.?? (Killing a guy while driving a car under the influence tends to do that.)

The goal for getting a new lease in place for the Bills officially has been moved to the end of the year.

When it comes to hairstyles, Dolphins rookies are sporting the modified Cruella deVille.

With WR Antonio Brown and not WR Mike Wallace getting a new contract from the Steelers, Snoop Dogg may need an explanation.

Browns DT Ahtyba Rubin is recovering from a procedure to repair a slight pelvic tear.

Bengals LB Brandon Joiner is on the reserve/did not report list for a good reason; he?s serving a three-year prison sentence in Texas.? (Shouldn?t they have traded him to the Lions by now?)

Is Michael Oher finally ready to play left tackle?? (With Bryant McKinnie AWOL, it may not matter.)

The Jaguars have released FB Naufahu Tahi.? (Brad Childress wants to know why they didn?t they just make him the extra man on the roster.)

Colts coach Chuck Pagano?s first training camp as head coach opens on Saturday.

Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck put business first in the offseason; ?I played it more safe and I didn?t really travel,? Hasselbeck said. ?I didn?t really go anywhere for fun.? Everywhere I went, I had a purpose.? If I was going somewhere, then throwing and working out was priority No. 1 all the time.?

Texans LB Connor Barwin has traded in the Cosmo Kramer for the Gary Kubiak.

A jury has awarded $5.2 million against Chargers doctor David Chao for prescribing a cold-therapy device after knee surgery; Chao has now been on the wrong end of multiple malpractice cases.? (But, please, keep letting him provide care to elite professional athletes.)

Broncos LB Von Miller thinks that the team?s seventh defensive coordinator in seven seasons is ?laid back?; Jack Del Rio says Miller and the rest of the defense are in for a surprise.

The Torn ACL Trio (Eric Berry, Jamaal Charles, Tony Moeaki) all practiced for the Chiefs on Friday; ?I feel I?ve got my swag back,? Charles said.

Here are five questions for the Raiders.

Our old pal (and former PFT contributor) Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com tears into Cowboys WR Dez Bryant for keeping his mouth shut in the wake of his recent arrest.

Giants co-owner John Mara was surprised by the number of media at training camp: ??I can?t believe so many of you are here.? Tebow isn?t here.?

Former Redskins QB Colt Brennan has been arrested in Hawaii for suspicion of drunk driving and drug possession.

Eagles TE Brent Celek (knee) is expected to miss only a few days.

A lawsuit against former Vikings WR and current ESPN analyst Cris Carter involving a rap-song investment gone bad contends that Carter was close to becoming the Alabama receivers coach in 2011.? (It?s unknown whether Carter ever declared, ?I?m not going to be the Alabama receivers coach.?)

Bears K Robbie Gould thinks it would be a ?big risk? for the team to let LB Brian Urlacher become a free agent.? (It also would be a ?big risk? for the Bears to make personnel decisions based on the advice of a kicker.)

Packers LT Marshall Newhouse is gaining confidence via praise from his coach ? and practice against LB Clay Matthews.

Lions WR Calvin Johnson apparently can?t walk down the street in Mexico.? (Sergio Mendes can sympathize.)

Newly re-signed Falcons LB Mike Peterson is now known as ?Unc?; ?I?m everybody?s uncle around here now,? Peterson said.

Saints CB Patrick Robinson made the play of the day on Friday, stealing a Drew Brees pass away from TE Jimmy Graham.

Falcons RB Jason Snelling wants more opportunities on offense.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera hopes increased competition will create increased urgency in training camp; among other things, both kicking positions are up for grabs.

The mentor of 49ers LB Aldon Smith says that his off-field problems will be a ?small blip on his radar.?? (If getting stabbed twice is a small blip on the radar, that?s a big-ass radar.)

The Cardinals are holding their annual Red-White Scrimmage on Saturday.? (QB Kevin Kolb may want to wear ear plugs.)

Rams TE Michael Hoomanawanui is able to practice after suffering a torn ACL on November 13.

Will the Seahawks quarterback competition be reduced from three to two?? ?The answer is yes, I guess,? coach Pete Carroll said.? ?You?re just going to have to suck it up and wait.?

LG Nitro HD sees another Android 4.0 ICS leak ahead of official update

LG Nitro HD

As we already know, AT&T will be updating the LG Nitro HD with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on July 31st but just in case you simply cannot wait, there is a new leak now out there claiming to be to be the official final build. You'll need to use the notably crappy LG Windows Suite to get it loaded up but it's there and available for download.

As with all things not officially official, we suggest some caution loading it but if you're one to tosses that suggestion to the wind, you'll find the link below. If you're on a different carrier, say Bell Mobility you're going to want to read through it all to ensure compatibility but that's where those cautionary measures come in once again.

TUATHA DE DANANN Trova Di Danu music review by kenethlevine

1 stars I am a staunch supporter of the "non traditional marriage" of celtic folk with rock music, even hard rock. Over the years, mostly British Isles bands have been the finest proponents of this blend - POGUES, RUNRIG, MEN THEY COULDN'T HANG, WATERBOYS, and OYSTERBAND all come to mind, as much for their political and human interest themes that transcended the usual drunken bar fight lyrics as for their considerable musicality. On the other hand relatively few bands convincingly melded metal to folk. The best of these I have heard is MAGO DE OZ from Spain, to whom TUATHA DE DANANN owes the greatest debt of gratitude. However based on this disk, I doubt that MAGO DE OZ is much flattered by the imitation.

For every poignant RUNRIG anthem there is a tepid WOLFSTONE regurgitation; for every James Joyce rivaling POGUES romp is a warmed over hand me down from TEMPEST. For every well sequenced and executed ballad or metal fest by MAGO DE OZ is a frenetic and soulless ballad or metal fest (both sound pretty much the same anyway) by TUATHA DE DANANN that conveys a failure to assimilate the virtues of the folk genre prior to alloying it. Most of this is a crass and hard to forgive exercise in amplifying and speeding up jigs or reels, or dressing a death growl in a kilt. Songs like "Bella Nature", "Lover of the Queen", "Land's Revenge" and "Arrival" are even worse than that and essentially torturous. Sometimes after a minute or so of tentative intro, they realize they have locked themselves in and the only way out is with a hammer and a groan. The exceptions would be the lighter "Land of Youth", the guttural but rousing "Believe it's True" and the atypical and more traditionally celtic title cut with female vocals. But the damage inflicted by the worst this group has to offer neutralizes these gains many times over.

Perhaps the band's inactivity since 2004 means that it has been offered as a sacrifice to Danu, the water goddess from which the it derives its name, and she has accepted selflessly for the benefit of bands like DANU and DE DANANN, not to mention listeners like me.

EYES ON LONDON: Bond, queen, Beatles: Games begin

LONDON (AP) ? Around the 2012 Olympics and its host city with journalists from The Associated Press bringing the flavor and details of the games to you:

___

LENNON'S TAKE

Finally: The Beatles make an appearance in the story of Britain. Which begs the question: What would John Lennon think of all this? Would he love it or skewer it?

He'd probably manage to do both at once.

? Ted Anthony ? Twitter http://twitter.com/anthonyted

___

CLICHE ? BUT OK

So far a lot of the British cliches have come out, but they have been subtle. The NHS, the worker, the British nanny and Mr. Bean. It is a reflection of all things British but it is also a way of telling the world what we gave them.

Of course, we wouldn't boast. But a little reminder now and again doesn't hurt.

? Fergus Bell ? Twitter http://twitter.com/fergb

___

HER MAJESTY

The queen sure knows how to draw a crowd. As she allegedly parachuted down to Olympic Park, a mad rush of those outside the stadium ensued.

Observers sprinted to the area, hoping to catch a glimpse.

"It's the queen!"

Alas, "she" landed too far away to be seen by most outside the arena.

? Jon Krawczynski ? Twitter http://www.twitter.com/APkrawczynski

___

BRITAIN'S NHS

In Britain, you'll often hear gripes about waiting lists, wards and distant dates for operations. But don't read too much into that. There's little the country cherishes more than its National Health Service ? introduced as a free health care system after World War II. That tribute just now at the opening ceremony will have gone down very well in the UK.

? Ian Phillips ? Twitter ? http://twitter.com/phillipsian

___

COMPRESSED STORYTELLING

Rarely in any forum but the Olympics is an entire country distilled in one performance. In short: You don't usually see medieval farmers, National Health Service nurses, James Bond and an evil "Harry Potter" character in one place. Plus: Molten metal and Mary Poppins. How do you choose from more than a millennium of history? What important stuff gets left out?

? Ted Anthony ? Twitter http://twitter.com/anthonyted

___

THEY'RE REALLY NURSES

Some of the nurses dancing in this segment of the opening ceremony aren't just dancers. They're ... nurses.

? Danica Kirka ? Twitter ? http://twitter.com/danicakirka

___

BOND. JAMES BOND

The crowd went absolutely wild at "Good Evening Mister Bond." If there are two things that many Britons love right now it is the Queen and James Bond. Put them together and you are on a winner. More surprisingly I cannot remember the Queen

? Fergus Bell ? Twitter http://twitter.com/fergb

___

JUST LIKE BEING THERE

A technologically savvy volunteer worker did his best to circumvent not having a ticket to the big show.

He stood just across the bridge from the stadium and streamed the ceremony on his cell phone. A crowd of six more disenfranchised workers quickly gathered around him.

"That's 10 a piece please," Timothy Harris joked.

Thank heaven for technology. He worried his power may run out before the show ended, so he was lining up others for potential replacements.

As the helicopters lowered the glowing rings into the stadium everyone oohed and awwwed.

"That is fantastic," Harris said. "Well done guys."

So close, but so far away.

"It's seriously sad," one woman said.

A CONSUMING TALE

This is really showing the unique story of Britain and Britons. A mix of humble workers and aristocracy. It isn't over the top; it is understated yet somehow powerful.

Brits don't like to overplay things. The silence of the narrative says everything that needs to be said.

And yet: I just noticed that my foot has been beating the rhythm this whole time.

HIGH-SPEED HISTORY

It is really incredible to see the transformation into an industrial society. So shocking. It must have been like this for the people of rural England in some way, really. It was all happening so quickly. Things familiar, then suddenly so dark. And scary.

NO TICKETS, STILL HAPPY

A group of 10 Nigerians didn't let a few rain drops, or the fact that they didn't have tickets to the opening ceremony, dampen their spirits.

They laughed, danced, clapped their hands and sang songs near the entrance to Olympic Park.

They yelled in unison: "We represent Nigeria!"

JERUSALEM

The first song, Jerusalem, is often used when England needs its own anthem. God Save The Queen is actually the British National Anthem. This is a real nod to England, but there's a lot of Irish, Welsh and Scottish imagery on show too.

FIRST IMAGES

The Clash. The Sex Pistols. Lily Allen. Pink Floyd. London's Olympics open with a fast-moving montage of the UK that immediately summons the musical tradition of the past generation of British music. "God save the Queen," sing the Sex Pistols. The music moves on before the second line: "She ain't no human bein'."

THE GAMES BEGIN

The 2012 London Olympic Games have begun.

___

RUGBY!

The scene moments before the ceremony begins: The sheep and other animals are leaving. The cameras are still flashing. Around the stadium people in old-fashioned clothes are playing rugby. Besides football (as we call it here) rugby is one of the most popular team sports in Britain. And we invented it.

RETICENT BRITS

Brits are a little stubborn by nature. The part of the proceedings labelled "Audience Training" where they are told what to do is interesting because they are really throwing themselves into the practice tasks they are being given.

They'll be controlling big bouncy balls thrown into the stands and passing large silk sheets over their heads.

The final word from the people giving instructions: "DO participate."

PERFORMERS PREPARE

Behind Olympic Stadium lies a staging area for some participants in the opening ceremony. They gather and hear an encouraging organizer yell through a megaphone: "Break a leg!"

Then they walk a bridge over the River Thames and into the stadium. It's quite a breathtaking entrance for the biggest show on the planet, and some just have to let out primal screams as they prepare for their big moment.

JOKING ABOUT THE WEATHER

The emcee in Olympic Stadium is cracking jokes about the weather: "We need the rain! It wouldn't be the London Olympics without rain!"

IT'S RAINING!

It just had to happen. It's started to rain inside the Olympic Stadium

"Don't worry! Don't worry! It's only a little flat rain," said an organizer through a megaphone as a group of performers dressed as milk maids started to pick up the pace on the way inside.

LIKE A FARMYARD

The animals have just come into the stadium. That is 70 sheep, 12 horses, 10 chickens and nine geese. One of those horses is a shire horse. The music is starting to build and there are camera flashes all around the stadium. What will the animals make of that?

MANY COLORS

They've come from all over for these games and this opening ceremony. Fans seen filing into Olympic Stadium wearing the colors of Canada, Mexico, Poland, Italy, Russia, Germany, Brazil and seemingly all points in between.

That includes the most well-represented nation, of course: Team GB.

NO RAIN - YET

There's been so much talk about the British weather and if rain would spoil the opening ceremony. Well, it's still anyone's guess.

AP's John Krawczynski, outside the main stadium in Olympic Park, says: "It's cool with a light breeze and no rain. But it does feel as though it could rain at any moment."

ELECTRIC ATMOSPHERE

The atmosphere is absolutely electric. We have already had a few attempts at doing the wave. Crew members in white coveralls and painter hats are parading these clouds around the stadium. Music up. Cheers up. scenes playing on the screens of past Olympians and young kids.

CEREMONY SECURITY

Security lines, or lack thereof, are moving easily at the Olympic Park. It does feel a bit like stumbling onto a military base ? fresh-faced young soldiers in uniform are everywhere, and every single X-ray machine and scanner is manned by soldiers rather than other organizing committee staff.

So many soldiers that some are just standing around, waiting for a crushof spectators that has not yet materialized.
