Party turns costly as $15000 of jewelry stolen in Wellesley | Your ...

A Wellesley man returned home from vacation to two surprises. First, his teenaged son was throwing a party, which promptly broke up once dad came home. But soon, the man also discovered $15,000 worth of jewelry had been stolen from the family home.

Police received the call at 1:30 a.m. on July 24 after the father made the discovery at the Ferris Drive property.

?The homeowner came home from vacation and determined that his son had had a party that evening,? said Waterloo Police Service spokesperson Olaf Heinzel. ?The party had ended once dad arrived home.?

The valuable rings and bracelets were taken from a bedroom, said Heinzel, but it?s unclear exactly when they disappeared. The jewelry may have been taken during the party that night, or earlier while some of the family was on vacation.

There may have been eight or 10 people at the Monday night house party, according to the 18-year-old son?s testimony, Heinzel said.

Police want to talk with anyone who was at the house that night or neighbours who may have seen something.

?The key thing for us right now is to get a clear picture of who the individuals are who were there and interview them,? Heinzel said.

The police investigation is ongoing and anyone with information can call Waterloo Regional Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
